• Fishing logs — catch reports, species, locations, and notes you choose to save.
• Location data — GPS coordinates used for map features, offshore data, and track logging when enabled.
• Preferences — home inlet, units, range settings, and other app configuration.
• Usage data — app opens, feature usage (which map layers and tabs you use), and session duration. This data is tied to your account and helps us understand which features are valuable and where to improve the app. We do not track your precise location for analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Provide and operate the Pelagic Insight service, including ocean data, forecasts, and mapping.
• Improve features, fix bugs, and develop new functionality.
• Process subscriptions and manage your account.
• Send service-related communications (e.g., subscription confirmations).

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Pelagic Insight:

• Clerk — authentication and user management.
• Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions.
• RevenueCat — mobile subscription management and Apple In-App Purchase processing.
• Mapbox — map rendering and geospatial services.
• NOAA — ocean and weather data (sea surface temperature, wind, waves, tides, etc.).
• Supabase — database and data storage.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by using the “Delete Account” option in the mobile app settings or by contacting us at the email below. Upon deletion, we remove your fishing logs, preferences, subscription records, and authentication data.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Children's Privacy

Pelagic Insight is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
